Principal company Meta seems to be working on some paid features for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Interesting plans are being made. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which are under the umbrella of Meta, are completely free services to use. The company makes money through these services “usually” through the advertisements it displays, and this has not fundamentally changed for years. But Meta seems to want other sources of income as well.
Meta is planning more paid features for Facebook and Instagram
The company, headed by Mark Zuckerberg, recently established a department called “New Monetization Experiences”. It is reported that this department will prepare features that will be sold for a fee for the services. In other words, the company wants to bring extra features to all three platforms that it can sell to users.
Meta, which is likely to release “Premium” packages for these services, may clarify its plans in this regard before the end of the year. It is estimated that there will be many people who will pay for the extra features that will be offered for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. It is not yet known what these features are.
Meta does not expect great success from the new features in a short time. However, in the long term, new paid features are expected to be used frequently on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. Meta believes that new paid features will come to a much different point in 5 years.
Social media platforms have been announcing different paid packages lately. For example, after Telegram Premium, the last Snapchat Plus subscription appeared. This package gives users early access to some new, unreleased features that are in the testing phase. The package, which will also allow some experimental features to be tested beforehand, allows changing the application icon, showing who is watching the stories again, and allowing favorite friends to be pinned as “best friends” at the top of the chat window.
Interestingly, paid subscribers continue to see ads. The company states that its main income will continue to be advertising, and this is not a surprise for a free social media platform. Snapchat Plus subscription exceeded expectations and reached 1 million users.
